Attention Cal Expo Horsemen

Representatives from the CHHA and Cal Expo met again today in their monthly meeting and discussed several options for different types of incentives for horsemen.  One of the incentives that will begin now is as follows:

Beginning Thursday, June 12, 2008, every horse in every race who does not earn a purse check will receive a starter bonus of $50.00 per start.  The current underpayment of approximately $70,500 will be used to pay these amounts.  The amounts will continue to be paid through the end of the meet on August 2 or until the underpayment funds no longer exist.  Please continue to stay abreast of the underpayment amount on the weekly under/over purse overpayment report sent via email and displayed on the racing office window each week.  We are hopeful the purse underpayment amounts will continue to exist through the end of the meet.

We also discussed a variety of incentives for horsemen including but not limited to some Late Closer series races in September and October for horses that have started at Cal Expo in June and July 2008, Late Closer series races for other horses including those that have started at Cal Expo, per race incentive bonus’s for all horses starting in September, and new horse incentives.  We will continue to work diligently together to provide programs to better serve the horsemen.

We will keep you updated as we progress through the discussion process.

Thank You,
