Berkshire Eyes Another Snapshot In Saturday
Feature At Cal Expo
Thursday, June 9, 2011 - by Mark Ratzky, Publicity -- Cal Expo
Berkshire, fresh from two straight wins for owner Jenn Petrelli,
conditioner Frank Petrelli and driver Steve Wiseman, heads the field for
Saturday night’s (June 11) featured $4,500 Trot at Cal Expo.
The son of Revenue S used front-end tactics to get the job done two
weeks ago, as he was parked a modest quarter-plus to the top, then came
home smartly to hold safe by three-quarters of a length over Franks Best
in that contest.
Sent off the 9-5 chalk in his most recent tour, Berkshire put his
versatility on display as he sat at the back of the pack through the
early stages, launched a big move off the final turn and prevailed by
two lengths with Wiseman. He looms the main threat no matter how
things transpire during the early stages.
Giles L S Hanover is a 6-year-old by S J’s Photo who campaigns for the
partnership of Marty Garey, Hank Wieseneck and trainer Bob Johnson with
Lemoyne Svendsen handling the lines. This one packs a solid punch
in the lane and completed the exacta behind Berkshire last week.
He recorded back-to-back scores on May 13 and 19 with softer company, on
both occasions saving his best trotting for the stretch.
The field is completed by Aston Boko with Scott Cisco; Putoneonnetformom
for Rocky Stidham; Broadway Victory with owner/trainer John McKeon; Foxy
Lady De Vie, who gives the Petrelli barn two looks and has the trainer
in the sulky; and Franks Best, to be guided by Jim Lackey.
