Power Surge Lights The Toteboard
Thursday, March 25, 2010 - by Mark Ratzky, Publicity -- Cal-Expo

That explosion you heard last Saturday night (March 20) was Wish For Power motoring home in a sizzling :26.2 final quarter to pull off a $61 shocker in the co-feature, coming from last to prevail by three-quarters of a length.

The Power Of Art homebred, who is out of the classy racemare and producer Fancy Wishes, goes about his business for the Team Desomer with Vickie Desomer the conditioner and Etienne Desomer handling the lines.

Last weekend marked the sixth win in just 13 appearances for the pacer and the 1:53.1 clocking shaved a full three seconds and a tick off his career standard.  He definitely moved his game to a new level with the upset over this caliber that evening.

“This horse has done very little wrong since we started racing him last fall,” Vickie related when asked about the up-and-coming performer.  “He’s sound, easy to drive and determined.

“I have to admit, though, that that last win surprised all of us.  We knew he had a big finish off a trip, but didn’t know that he could put it all together off such fast fractions.  He’s out of a real nice racemare that Bob Gordon had some years ago and we were obviously very happy with the effort.”

Wish For Power will be back in action in Saturday night, competing at the same level that resulted in last week’s surprise.  He will no doubt get more respect at the windows this time around.
